There are a number of different ways to prepare banana pancakes, some cooking the bananas on top of the pancake while some include the banana in the pancake mix. The simplest way is often my favourite and we usually make the pancakes, slice the bananas on a long angle, add either whipped cream or a little sauce, say maple syrup and roll it up. Yum!!

Children have an extremely important job to do. They have to grow up. They have to go to school and learn the skills that allow them to grow into happy, healthy and productive adults. That’s a bigger job than any of us adults do.

The right kind of food you should eat include vegetables, fruits, fish, nonfat dairy, egg whites, shellfish, soy products, olive oil, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, skinless poultry, etc. You must not skip your meals. Eat 5 small meals throughout the day. They must be healthy meals, not fast foods. Drink plenty of water every day to give your stomach a sense of fullness and to help flush out toxins. Never skip your breakfast. Ensure you eat a healthy breakfast everyday.

New Year’s Resolutions are notoriously hard to keep, with most people giving up by the 15th of January. However, take the time to think about your health and fitness achievements from the last 12 months and push them a little further for the New Year. But be realistic – set yourself a massive weight loss goal and you will rapidly lose the motivation of those pounds don’t fall early on.

Alcohol is an easy way of increasing your calorific intake DRASTICALLY. With over 200 calories in a large glass of wine you can easily double your day’s calories during a party night out. Plus, alcohol leads to hunger and when drunk you are far less likely to eat wisely. So, in between your alcoholic drinks drink a large glass of water. This will reduce the calories consumed and will help to flush out the toxins (meaning less of a hangover the morning after).

The most frightening foods that you think might be healthy but might not be is dried fruits and granola. Granola is very rich in fat so you must try to limit your consumption of that ingredient. Also dried fruits of raisins, apples and other fruits might seem healthy but they are usually loaded with sugar and calories.

Traditional Thanksgiving food items weren’t all created equal – nutritionally that is. Roasted white turkey meat (without skin) is a great source of lean protein. Vegetable dishes (without added fats) are also very healthy. On the other hand, buttery mashed potatoes, white bread rolls, cream based dishes, and heavy gravy are all packed with fat and calories. Fill your stomach with the healthy items first – white turkey meat and plenty of vegetables. Then simply ‘sample’ the less healthy items in small portions. This is so easy to do, save you lots of extra calories, and you don’t have to feel like you are denying yourself, either.
